Stephanie Miner, the former Democratic mayor of Syracuse, announced Thursday she will not challenge Rep. John Katko (R-Camillus) for his congressional seat this November, The New York Times reported.

But Miner said she may launch a campaign for New York state governor, challenging current incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo is up for reelection in 2018 and has served two consecutive terms.

Miner initially ruled out a congressional run in October 2017. After Katko voted for the Republican tax reform bill, in November, Miner said she would reconsider her decision.

There are currently four Democratic candidates running for congress in the 24th district; Dana Balter, Scott Comegys, Anne Messenger and William H. Bass Jr., who declared his candidacy this week.

Miner has been teaching a course at New York University since she concluded her two terms as Syracuse mayor in December.
