FB : Brighton linebacker Devan Carter commits to Syracuse
Devan Carter is the second linebacker to commit to Syracuse in the last week.
Carter, from Brighton High School in Rochester, made an impression at a Syracuse rising senior camp in Buffalo on Sunday, and the Orange made an impression on him too. Carter verbally committed to SU on the spot, according to Scout.com.
He joins Miami Central High School linebacker Marqez Hodge, who verbally committed to the Orange on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2, 217-pound Carter starred at Brighton as a linebacker in 2011, running a 4.52 40-yard dash. His 4.32 short shuttle and 7.2 L-drill times were the best at the camp.
Carter is the sixth member of SU’s class of 2013 joining Hodge, quarterbacks Austin Wilson and Zach Allen, tight end Tyler Provo and defensive tackle Wayne Williams, a fellow New Yorker.
Carter is an unranked linebacker according to Scout.com and had no offers from other schools.
