Freshman forward Donnie Freeman will get a procedure done that will sideline him for the remainder of the season, Syracuse announced Saturday. Freeman appeared in 14 games this year, his last being on Jan. 4 against Florida State.

A McDonald’s All-American and the No. 6 recruit in the 2024 class, Freeman came to the Orange as their top recruit since Carmelo Anthony. He became an instant starter for SU, averaging 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Ahead of Syracuse’s game against Georgia Tech on Jan. 7, Freeman was announced as day-to-day, sporting a boot on his right foot. Over the month of January, SU head coach Adrian Autry continued to say they would evaluate Freeman and a possible return.

With Freeman confirmed to be out for the season, Jyáre Davis will continue to be in the starting lineup. Freeman’s future could be with the Orange, another NCAA team or he could move on to the NBA Draft.
