Syracuse will travel to San Diego, California, to face Washington State in the Holiday Bowl for an 8 p.m. EST kickoff on Dec. 27. The Orange had a program-shifting regular season under first-year head coach Fran Brown, winning nine games while defeating three Associated Press Top 25 teams.
This is SU’s third straight bowl appearance. The Orange were crushed by South Florida in the Boca Raton Bowl last year and fell to Minnesota in the Pinstripe Bowl in 2022.
Syracuse’s last bowl game win came in 2018 when it defeated West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl. The win notched SU its 10th win, which the program hasn’t eclipsed since. The Orange’s 2024 squad can become the program’s third team to win double-digit games this century with a win over the Cougars.
Washington State started the season 8-1 before losing its final three games against New Mexico State, Oregon State and Wyoming. Third-year head coach Jake Dickert helms the Cougars, whose 88.9 Pro Football Focus defensive grade ranked 31st in the country and 78.7 offensive grade placed 48th.
