Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord and left tackle Da’Metrius Weatherspoon have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The recognition comes after SU’s 31-28 victory over then-No. 23 Georgia Tech Saturday.
McCord was named the Co-Quarterback of the Week, sharing the honor with Clemson’s Cade Klubnik. In SU’s win over the Yellow Jackets, McCord totaled a career-high 32 complete passes for 381 yards and four touchdowns. The Ohio State transfer leads the nation in passing touchdowns with eight and the ACC in passing yards with 735 through two games.
Weatherspoon, a transfer from Howard, was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. He led the Orange’s offensive line that allowed just one sack in the contest versus GT. The redshirt junior was the highest-graded offensive lineman for SU against Georgia Tech, according to Pro Football Focus. He calculated an 81.5 pass-blocking grade and a 68.8 overall grade.
SU’s offense, led by McCord, has averaged 34.5 points through two games. The All-ACC honors are the second and third for the Orange in 2024, as linebacker Marlowe Wax was named Linebacker of the Week for his Week 1 performance.
