Unranked Class of 2017 wide receiver Russell Thompson-Bishop committed to Syracuse on Thursday night.

The Bloomfield (Connecticut) High School senior chose Syracuse over offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Yale and Harvard, among others. He is not ranked by any major recruiting sites.

The 6-foot- 1, 192-pound high school track runner becomes the first player to commit to Syracuse in 19 days, the longest stretch SU has gone without a commitment since early June.

He is the fifth wide receiver in Syracuse’s 2017 class, joining unranked Cameron Jordan and Sharod Johnson as well as three-stars Joshua Palmer and Nykeim Johnson. The Orange also have committed two other three-star offensive skill players, running back Allen Stritzinger and athlete Eric Coley.

Eight of Syracuse’s 12 commits are offensive players.

Thompson-Bishop runs the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, has a 41-inch vertical and can bench press 255 pounds, according to his Hudl.com player page.

By the time Palmer gets to the program, if everyone uses their year of eligibility as anticipated, Syracuse will have five senior wide recievers (Steve Ishmael, Jamal Custis, Sean Avant, Clay Austin, Troy Green), three juniors (Kenterius Womack, Nesean Crofford, Adly Enoicy) and two sophomores (Tyler Gilfus, Moe Neal).

In the same scenario, there will be three wide receiver/running backs: seniors Ervin Philips and juniors Tyrone Perkins and Dontae Strickland.
