Junior rocks urban classy style
Teyra Anderson, a public relations major, said when in doubt, black is always the way to go.
This is evident in today’s outfit, with her sleek black leather jacket, flowy crop top and shiny loafers. Her only color comes from the rather muted palate of her plaid knit trousers. Her look channels ‘90s grunge, a trend that we are starting to see make a huge comeback.
Anderson said that she likes to wear whatever is comfortable, but sweatpants are never in the picture. Her style can be defined as “urban classy” — full of plenty of basics (tanks and plain T-shirts), but also full of statement pieces (leather, plaids, sheer items, oversized pieces, etc.). She calls Rihanna and Zoe Kravitz her style icons, two women who like to look classy with an edgy twist — a look she mirrors in her own wardrobe.
To incorporate Anderson’s style into your own looks, start with lots of dark colors – blacks, navy blues, forest greens, maroons and dark greys, and throw in a few white pieces. Experiment with longer and shorter hemlines, but stick to more fitted silhouettes. To really finish the look, add any element of grunge — studs, leather and plaid. Oh, and don’t forget the combat boots or Doc Martins.
