Christmas, Gbinje help East Coast All-Stars past Slovakia
Rakeem Christmas is growing acclimated to playing with Duke transfer Michael Gbinje a bit earlier than his other Syracuse teammates. The two helped lift the East Coast All-Stars to a 93-75 win over Slovakia on Friday in the second day of the Four Nations Cup in Tallinn, Estonia.
Gbinje, a wing who will be a sophomore for the Orange this season, scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. The power forward Christmas, a rising junior, chipped in six points on a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and snagged three rebounds. Both were in the starting lineup on a roster made up of college players from across the country.
Gbinje’s 16 points ranked second on the team behind West Virginia’s Eron Harris, who scored 21.
The East Coast All-Stars will next take on the tournament’s host, Estonia, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET.
