Top-ranked center Johnson spurns Syracuse, chooses Kentucky
Dakari Johnson verbally committed to Kentucky at halftime of a game during the Geico High School Showcase on Saturday.
The 6-foot-10, 240 pound center from Montverde Academy just outside of Miami is a New York City native and was ranked as the top center in the class of 2013 by all three major scouting services. Georgetown joined Syracuse and the Wildcats in Johnson’s final three.
The center would have been the third top 50 recruit to commit to the Orange from the class of 2013, joining point guard Tyler Ennis and power forward Tyler Roberson.
For UK, Johnson just adds to the nation’s top recruiting class. Kentucky also boasts the top point guard and shooting guard in Andrew and Aaron Harrison respectively.
