Former Syracuse standouts Melo and Joseph assigned to D-League by Celtics
After playing a combined three minutes over the Boston Celtics’ first seven games, center Fab Melo and small forward Kris Joseph were assigned to the Celtics’ NBA Developmental League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
The former Syracuse stars were both selected by Boston in June’s NBA Draft. Melo was the No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the draft. Joseph was a second round selection, No. 51 overall.
Melo appeared in all eight preseason games for the Celtics, but has yet to record a minute of regular season action. Joseph played three minutes in Boston’s Nov. 2 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, tallying one rebound and an assist after also playing all eight preseason games.
